What is a DSC Token?

USB Token for Digital signature Certificate (DSC) is a password-protected device in its physical form (like a pen drive) wherein a personal identity is also established. The DSC token allows the user to access a network without a password. It enhances digital security & safety as it proves the identity of the user in an electronic form. The DSC Token has unique in-built software that facilitates users to identify and open digital signatures. The terms 'digital signature token', 'USB token', 'e-token', and 'dongle' are used similarly.

The DSC token brings in a lot of characteristics for users:

(i) The private key is stored in the token and cannot be passed externally in the case of a secure cryptographic token. This leads to the formation of a digital signature on the receipt while signing the operation. The use of a password protected token to access the contents of the content token assures a high level of security to the users. The user has the authority to retrieve his private key from the USB token.

(ii) A USB token for Digital Signature carries fingerprint details, digital signatures or other relevant biometric data of the user, which can be used as a cryptographic key.

(iii) A majority of USB tokens provide the facilities of durability and portability with security.

(iv) Most USB tokens do not require a reader and hence can be carried conveniently in hand like a key chain

(v) A USB token facilitates securely encrypting files or digital contracts.

(vi) A USB port of the device is required for USB tokens to be plugged in. It could be plugged directly or with the help of an extension cable.

(vii) There is no requirement of additional drivers for USB tokens in most cases. Most of the USB tokens need lesser drivers.

(viii) With the help of the plug-and-play capabilities of a USB token, the cost for training can be lessened
