1. Visit the MCA Portal:
Go to the official website of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) at https://www.mca.gov.in/.
2. Services Menu:
Hover over the "MCA Services" tab on the top menu, and then click on "Check Company Name."
3. Name Availability Search:
On the "Check Company Name" page, enter the proposed company name in the provided search box.
4. Select Appropriate Option:
Choose the appropriate option from the drop-down menu to specify whether you are searching for "Company Name" or "LLP Name."
5. Click on Search:
Click on the "Search" button to initiate the search process.
6. Check Availability Status:
The search results will display whether the proposed name is available or not. If the name is available, it will show as "Available"; otherwise, it will show as "Not Available," along with the reasons for the name's unavailability.
7. Apply for Name Reservation (Optional):
If the proposed name is available, you can choose to apply for name reservation through the same MCA portal. This step helps secure the chosen name for a certain period, allowing you time to complete the company registration process without the risk of someone else taking the same name.
Please note that while conducting the name availability search, it is essential to follow the naming guidelines set by the MCA. The guidelines include avoiding names that are similar to existing companies or trademarks, names that are offensive or prohibited, and names that imply government approval or affiliation.
Keep in mind that even if the name is available and you apply for name reservation, the Registrar of Companies (ROC) has the authority to approve or reject the name based on their evaluation.
