The Federation of Indian Export Organisations popularly known as "FIEO", is the apex body of Indian export promotion organisations. The FIEO was set up in the year 1965 mutually by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India and private trade and industry.
The Federation of Indian Export Organisations is responsible for representing and assisting Indian entrepreneurs and exporters in the global market. FIEO is thus a partner of the Government of India in promoting India's exports.
The Federation updates its individuals as often as possible with the most recent improvements in the field of Export/Import by arranging Seminars and Workshops, Inviting delegations, organising Buyer-Seller meets in India and abroad. Trade Fairs, providing advisory and consultative services and bringing about steady cooperation between member exporters and different Government departments. The output of such action is discussion of issues in depth, developing of appropriate activities intends to promote Indian exports, formulation and dissemination of government policies relating to all areas in manufacturing and merchant exporting and informing Government on issues and proposing remedial measures.
Generally, FIEO represents directly or indirectly, over 100,000 exporters across India. Exports by FIEO members comprise a wide range of products including Textiles, Garments, Engineering Goods, Silk and silk products, Carpets, Handicrafts, Gems & Jewellery, Leather and Leather Products, Drugs and Pharmaceuticals, Handicrafts, Chemicals and allied products, Cosmetics, Sports goods, Tea, Coffee, Tobacco and tobacco products etc, as well as a wide range of Consultancy Services covering Infrastructure, Industries, Engineering, Cement, Leather, Paper & Rubber Industries. Agro-based Industries, Small Scale Industries etc.
There were great benefits can achieve through getting the membership of FIEO. By registering with FIEO, an exporter has the double advantage of obtaining the benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy, as also the benefit of FIEO’s services, facilities, credentials, and global reach. For getting the membership of FIEO, as per the Foreign Trade Policy, a Status Holder exporter is required to get a Registration-cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) from an Export Promotion Council and so as to avail various benefits under the Policy.
An exporter holding recognition certificate issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade as Export House/Star Export House/Trading House/Star Trading House/ Premier Trading House can obtain RCMC from FIEO.
An exporter has also the option to obtain RCMC from FIEO if the products/services exported by them are not covered by any EPC.
Exporters of multiple items can obtain Registration-cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) under the Multi-Products Group Category of FIEO.
An exporter who does not wish to obtain RCMC can also get enrolled as a member of FIEO under individual Exporter Category and claim benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy.

How to become a member of FIEO
FIEO’s membership rules are governed by the Government of India’s Foreign Trade Policy and FIEO’s Memorandum and Articles of Association.
Registration-cum-Membership Certificate
As per the Foreign Trade Policy, an exporter is required to get a Registration-cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) for availing various benefits under the Policy. For registration purposes, FIEO has been recognized by the Government as an Export Promotion Council.
Applying for RCMC
(a) An exporter desiring to obtain an RCMC, has to declare his main line of business in the application made to the Export Promotion Council relating to that line of business.(b) In case an export product is not covered by any Export Promotion Council/Commodity Board etc., RCMC in respect thereof is to be obtained from FIEO.
(c) In case of multi product exporters, not registered with any EPC, where main line of business is yet to be settled, the exporter has to obtain RCMC from Federation of Indian Exporters Organization (FIEO).
