Food License registration for state of Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh FSSAI Registration

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is a self-governing body under the Foods Safety and Standards Act, 2006. FSSAI Registration is a 14-digit registration number that is used by food-related businesses. The number is printed on the food products along with the license number. FSSAI registration is mandatory for a food business as it deals with food processing, food manufacturing, packaging, and distribution. This article looks at the procedure to obtain an Uttar Pradesh FSSAI registration.

The objective of FSSAI Registration

The objective of the FSSAI Registration is to facilitate food safety and regulate the manufacture, storage, distribution, sale, and import of foods.

Types of FSSAI Licenses

There are three kinds of FSSAI Licenses in Uttar Pradesh. They are

Single-State Businesses

This license will be required by food businesses that produce an annual turnover of less than Rs. 12 Lakh.

Single-State Restaurants, Hotels, and Food Manufacturers

This license will be required by food businesses that produce an annual turnover of more than Rs. 12 Lakh but less than Rs. 20 Crore.

Central License

This license will be required by food enterprises or businesses that produce an annual turnover of more than Rs. 20 Crore. When business enterprises desire to run food businesses in more than one state, this license must be obtained.

Applicability

A business enterprise that deals with the manufacturing, procuring, packaging, processing, storing, and distributing of food items has to apply for an FSSAI License. Obtaining an FSSAI License is simple and can be done online. The applicant has to log in to the FSSAI Portal.

Documents Required

Given below are the required documents to apply for an FSSAI Registration.

  • Duly filled in the application form
  • Address proof
  • Photo ID of the directors
  • Layout or blueprint of storage
  • Manufacturing or distribution facility
  • Food analysis report
  • Business name
  • Source of raw materials
  • No Objection Certificate

Application Procedure

Below is the application procedure for registering for a food license in Uttar Pradesh.

Step 1: Log in to the Portal

The applicant has to log in to the official portal.

Step 2: Fill in the Application

The applicant has to fill out Form B or the application required to be filled from the portal.

Step 3: Attach the Documents

The applicant has to attach the documents stated in Annexure 2 of the Regulations, a self-attested declaration, and the applicable fee depending on the food category.

Step 4: Mail the Application

Once the application is duly filled, the applicant has to mail the application form and the required documents to the concerned authority.
In some cases, the licensing authority demands additional information about the application. If the application is not completed, it will be reverted within 15 days. The applicant must furnish the remaining details and send them back within a month. The application gets rejected if the same is not done within the given time duration.

Issuance of Application Number

Once the application with the supporting documents is sent, the authority issues an Application ID number. This number can be used as a reference for future correspondence with the authority. The license will be issued within 60 days from the date of issuing the application ID number.

Inspection of the Premises

After issuing the application ID number, the Licensing Authority directs an officer to inspect the premises where the business is set up. This is followed as per the regulations that FSSAI prescribes. If there are any disagreements, the inspecting officer guides the necessary steps to be taken. The officer issues a notice for changes that have to be made on the premises to ensure that hygienic and sanitary conditions are maintained. These changes have to be taken within 30 days from the date of issuing the notice.

Approval of License

The Licensing Authority approves the license within a month from receiving the inspection report. This period excludes the time taken for compliance with feedback shared in the inspection report. The licensing authority issues the license in Format C under Schedule 2 of the regulations. The applicant has to furnish the originals at the business premises whenever required.
