This scheme is the initiative of NITI Aayog to realize women to start a new venture. This scheme is focusing on at building an ecosystem for women across India to realize their entrepreneurial aspirations (i.e. desire to start a new venture, or an expectation that one will be started). The scheme is to considerably escalate the number of women entrepreneurs who will create and empower a changing new India with the women empowerment.

The scheme has been initiated with the idea that “Women entrepreneurship will expand the business and there will be prosperity for all”. The objectives that will be achieved through this scheme are promotion of women entrepreneurship in the country by empowering them through financial aid and mentoring. WEP will encourage entrepreneurs to share their business journey, stories & experiences to increase and develop more entrepreneurs. Similarly, WEP offers incubation and acceleration backing to women created, founded or co-founded startups through its sources who handhold women in entrepreneurs registered with this organization and provide them required sustenance to assist them in starting and expanding their business.
Eligibility for the registration under this scheme is businesswoman who is at ideation stage, has just started off with their startups or is a well-known startup can register under the scheme to take all the assistance or benefits of the scheme. All other non-individuals, companies, research organizations, incubator, accelerator, etc. who can provide support in any form to these women.
This scheme works on the basis of the following proposition:
To motivate ambitious entrepreneurs in pursuing their own businesses.
Gyaan Shakti To provide knowledge and ecological support to women entrepreneurs so as to assist them in encourage their businesses.
Karma Shakti To support women entrepreneurs in the establishment and constituting of their businesses.

Moreover the scheme provides the following services
 The scope of financial assistance includes venture capital, growth capital, credit line support and discount support.
Encouragement of offline action and overreach programs so as to push the spirit of entrepreneurship among women entrepreneurs. This will be conducted by providing support to the women entrepreneurs.
Incubation and acceleration support to startups founded or co-founded by women entrepreneurs who are registered with the scheme.
Identifying the skill-gaps faced by Business women so as to link such women entrepreneurs with partners who provide online or offline training on these aspects.
Marketing and associating support to startups or established entities to help them in improving the marketing and arranging of their products.
Compliance services to registered users, which provide them with the essential tools to follow to legal compliances, registrations, furnish accounts, make loan applications, provide license advocating.
 Providing specialized services to social entrepreneurship business which is founded by women. It is provided by understanding their needs.
