How To Check UAN Passbook Status And PF Balance?

Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) is one of the most popular investment schemes for salaried individuals in India. With the advent of technology, you can now easily check your account balance online from the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) portal. In this article, let us explore how to avail one such service viewing UAN Passbook status and the PF account balance

What is UAN?

Universal Account Number (UAN) is allotted by the EPFO to every member of the PF scheme. It is a unique 12-digit number which allows the member to have multiple PF accounts. A member will get a UAN only once, irrespective of the number of jobs he/she switches. Whenever the member joins a new organization, a new Member Id is created by the employer and is linked with the UAN. Thus, under the same UAN, a member can have many Member IDs.

The main objective behind this new function is to capture KYC details (identity and address of the customer) of its members in order to eliminate the dependency on the employer and improve the quality of service. EPFO helps employers and employees access the services online on their portal.
